Going Barefoot

Going barefoot can be a nerve-wracking decision. I am here to help provide you with all the tools you'll need to successfully transition your horse out of shoes and into the wonderful world of barefoot.
Please read my barefoot transition PDF for more information.
Why go barefoot?
Barefoot hooves have a variety of benefits:
• Increased circulation to the hoof
• Increased traction
• Increased flexion to the hoof, which will lessen the chance of damaged tendons & ligaments
• Increased ability to treat laminitis, founder, and navicular syndrome
• Healthier hoof wall due to no longer being nailed into
• Better biomechanics of the leg

Things to consider...

The nature of the transition period will depend on several factors such as if the hoof has any existing pathologies, sole depth, hoof wall integrity, turnout time, and diet.
It is likely your horse will need protection either in turnout or when being worked after being transitioned. For this, I recommend investing in boots. I have a small stock of Equine Fusion loaner boots, but can assist you with sizing for your equine even before their shoes are removed!
Please read the barefoot transition PDF for information before your appointment.
